If you managed to catch my article on how to avoid debt at Christmas and still buy unique Christmas gifts, too, then you will know why I am posting articles on shopping for Christmas in July! If you didn’t, you can read it here or if you prefer I’ll give you a quick summary…. Basically if you buy Christmas gifts throughout the year not only will you find more inspiration you will spread the cost without even realising it. Meaning your credit card won’t be smoking from over usage come December and you will be the King or Queen of giving unusual (and totally thoughtful) gifts.
So what is idea number 1? Well after all to me Christmas is all about the children and the ‘olds’. Let’s start with idea number 1 for the kids. Now my two are still very young and we are just about out of the baby and toddler stages now. They are starting to actually ask for things they have seen that they would like. (Lelly Kelly shoes has a lot to answer for with that annoying jingle!) Anyway back to the point. They are developing personality wise and the big, bright plastic toys are not really as appealing to them as they used to be. They are maturing in their choices and absolutely love presents, gifts or items which are made especially for them, of characters they know and love or if it has their name on.
So whilst thinking about what I was going to focus this article on today, I always like to look round my home for inspiration and also I draw on my own gift giving experiences, naturally. Whilst making the kids beds I started to look around their bedrooms and I realised how utterly plain and none descript they were. There was no signature of either of the children in their bedrooms.
Now I am also a believer that I should not spoil my kids rotten all the time, but there is a lot that I would like to give them. So with this in mind I was thinking that we should start to look at adding some finishing touches to their bedrooms, to make them more a reflection of their personalities and their tastes, without plastering the walls with stickers and posters. I want to decorate a bit, but do it in a tasteful and fun way.
This was an exciting idea but not something that I have time to do at the moment and also I didn’t want to forget to add it to my list of ‘things to do’. Then I remembered the fab collection of children’s wall paper / wall murals we have. I thought these really would make a brilliant unusual Christmas gift. My little boy who is nearly three loves dinosaurs, cars, Scooby Doo and Postman Pat. My little girl loves anything ‘princess’ or pink. I was so excited to see that the range had grown and we now have quite a few licensed characters such as Scooby Doo, Shrek and Postman Pat and there are fairies, cars, dinosaurs and well basically there is something now in the range for every child. I just think they are so cool and will also make a terrific Christmas present. You might be thinking…wallpaper…for Christmas…for a child? YES, YES. Kids love comics and posters and here they have a GIANT picture for their bedroom that really does equal COOL. Or even better if your parents, aunties, uncles don’t know what to get…send them the link
I still can’t decide between Scooby or Postman Pat – what do you think?
