In response to the good news about William and Kate’s engagement last week and the breaking news about their confirmed wedding date, we just had to show you this lovely commemorative bauble.

Now I’ve got to admit that I’m not really that bothered about the Royal family normally, but I’ve found myself quite interested in all this engagement malarkey. I think that I’ve put it down to a few reasons. Firstly I got engaged this year as well so I’m still in the newly engaged giddiness like they will be. Secondly, they’re in their late twenties like yours truly! Most of all, I think I’m interested in them because they’re not stuffy like I perceive some of the other royals to be. They just seem like normal, everyday people who are celebrating their love and I think they’re more approachable and interesting to the public for that.
I remember when I was little, an old lady over the road gave me a commemorative Charles and Diana tin which I didn’t necessarily appreciate at the time but now I bet it’s quite a collector’s item. This bauble will be the same. Something that can be handed down for generations and appreciated with a story about the date it was announced and what you were doing at that point in your life. A lovely keepsake and a great talking point for your family for years to come!
