It’s that time of year when some lucky folks are jetting off for sun, sea , sand and … !
But for some it is only a dream and it’s definitely a dream for most of us to holiday where the celebs hang out.While nosing around trying to find where the latest holiday hot spots are for the rich and famous I came across a new site that encourages mere mortals to contact them if they spot a celeb on holiday.What attracted my attention though was a post about Club Tropicana. Even for those of you not old enough to remember it first hand this tune by Wham (the best boy band of all time – do two boys count as a boy band?) is still an iconic summer holiday tune. Anyway, it turns out that Club Tropicana does really exist and is called The Pikes Hotel in San Antonio, Ibiza. On the hotel’s website they boast Julia Inglesias and Grace Jones as regular visitors and apparently Freddy Mecury once rented it for a whole summer ! I was transported back to 1983 (!!) and the sound of D C Lee and Shirley’s stillettos walking up that gravel path at the start of the video.
That’s it … I am packing my case as I write and even if I don’t get there I will still be listening to George on my ipod and I’m taking my latest gadget with me from our new gifts arrivals – my pink flowers portable speakers case - a perfect little girlie gadget for my pink nano and my vintage raybans — I’m coming Ibiza!
