EastEnder of 20 years Wendy Richards received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Wendy played Pauline Fowler until her character’s death at the end of 2006. Pauline spent much of her time in East Enders working in the launderette while battling with and for her extended family. Her Christmas Day death was a dramatic twist to that years plot, putting a dampener on gift opening in Albert Square. The latest news is that the 65 year old star is dying from cancer: a sad loss for everyone.

At the same event, after four years as Albert Square slapper Stacey Slater, Lacey Turner has received a well deserved award for a great performance. She was awarded Best Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards
