Adventurer Injured In Antarctica

Bear Grylls has fallen and injured his shoulder while taking part in an expedition for Ethanol Ventures to promote the potential of alternative energies like bioethanol, according to a statement from the Discovery Channel. He has been flown back to the UK for medical attention.

The host of “Man vs. Wild” was taking part in the expedition as part of his ongoing efforts to raise money for Global Angels, an international charity that champions the needs of children.

Grylls’ Man vs Wild show regularly sees him dropped into uninhabited and inhospitable environments. He then battles his way back to civilisation, despite having neither map nor outdoor equipment. The series has been controversial: it was exposed last year that in some episodes Grylls has had the gift of a night in a hotel while viewers were left with the impression he had been outside all night.
