In unexpected news, bestselling author Michael Crichton, has died after a private battle against cancer. The writer was 66. A qualified doctor, he was one of the main movers behind long running and successful TV series ER. His books have sold more than 150 million copies. His latest novel’s release, which was planned for December, has been delayed indefinitely.
His Spielberg directed film Jurassic Park brought the writer the gift of a high profile. Spielberg said, “Michael’s talent outscaled even his own dinosaurs of Jurassic Park. He was the greatest at blending science with big theatrical concepts, which is what gave credibility to dinosaurs again walking the Earth… Michael was a gentle soul who reserved his flamboyant side for his novels. There is no one in the wings that will ever take his place.”
