EastEnder June Brown has been given an honour her character Dot Branning (aka Dot Cotton) would have been ‘delighted’ to receive. Brown, who is in her 80s, received a MBE for her services to drama and to charity. She is president of the Michael Elliott Trust, a charity that cares for abandoned donkeys and allows children with special needs to get involved in their care and has made them a gift of her time and resources over the last 11 years. Brown has been involved in EastEnders for more than 20 years and is a grandmother of 5. She earned more than £500,000 in the last year for her role in the series.
