Matt Smith Is The New Doctor Who

According to the BBC, actor Matt Smith will be Doctor Who in the new series to be aired in 2010. The 11th Time Lord since the programme first aired in 1963, Smith takes over the helm of the Tardis from David Tennant after 4 special episodes this year.

At just 26, Matt Smith is the youngest ever Doctor. His TV debut was with former Doctor’s assistant Billy Piper in The Ruby in the Smoke in 2006. Since then he has made successful appearances in Party Animals and The Shadow in the North. Smith says about the gift of this role, “I’ve got this wonderful journey in front of me. I’ve got six months to build this Time Lord and that’s such an exciting prospect.”
