According to the BBC, Actor Reg Varney, died earlier this month at the age of 92. The gifted actor was best known for his role in 1970s television comedy “On the Buses”. The East London actor started his career as a Hotel messenger boy. His early piano lessons got him work as a part-time piano player at Plumstead Radical Club in Woolwich which started him off on his showbiz career.
Varney made a number of films after his TV success, but they did not reach the massive popularity of On the Buses. He toured the world with the stage show of On the Buses before being forced to retire due to ill health. He died peacefully after a short illness at a nursing home in Devon.
