Jonathan Ross Didn’t Get The Sack In The End

by Antonia on December 1, 2008

Although supervisory body The BBC Trust decided that calls by chat show host Jonathan Ross and comedian Russell Brand were “so grossly offensive” they should never have been broadcast, it did not call for Ross to be sacked. The body used the words “deplorable intrusion” to describe the effects of the call on the private lives of actor Andrew Sachs and his granddaughter. Complaints rose to 40,000 although how many were as a result of tabloid coverage of the show and how many were down to actual listeners is debatable. Brand has seemed to view the events as another gift to his non stop publicity campaign, with sales of his book rising nicely.
