Quirky comedian Russell Brand has definitely got the gift of the gab, and recently he has been voted best live standup act at the British Comedy Awards. All the publicity surrounding his prank call with Jonathan Ross to actor Andrew Sachs’s granddaughter seems to have done him no harm. Brand, who continually seems to overstep any lines going, dedicated his award to Ross in a video message from LA where he is currently filming.
The award for best television comedy actor went to Ricky Gervais. In the spirit of the awards, Gervais filmed his acceptance speech sitting in bed in his pyjamas alongside singer George Michael. He said, “I can’t be bothered to be there in person. This is beneath me to be honest: I’ve won real awards, Golden Globes and Emmys”.
