If you were watching the Strictly Come Dancing semi final you had to be concentrating hard.
It all appeared to be going as planned initially. Lisa and Brendan, Tom and Camilla, Rachel and Vincent went head-to-head with an Argentine tango. The couples then reprised a re-choreographed dance from their back catalogue. Viewers were asked to phone in their votes as usual.
Now, obviously, some people vote for their favourite couple regardless, but I assume that a fair number wait to see how they perform and base their vote on that. This week, though, the polls closed early, and viewers were told that their votes would be carried over to the Final next week. This was all because all three couples were given the gift of a pass through to the Final. But what if you don’t want your vote carried over? What if one of the couples does much worse next week than this? I don’t think that the team behind Strictly Come Dancing have really thought this one through.
