In last week’s X Factor, Ruth Lorenzo faced a second sing-off against Laura White, and was saved a second time. Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell all voted to save Ruth, with only mentor Cheryl opting for Laura’s performance of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. For once, Simon Cowell was complimentary to both performers, saying, “… you were not the worst two singers tonight so I don’t know what went wrong tonight – it was a joke. Both of you sang your hearts out. Whatever I say is going to be unpopular.” Contestant Diana Vickers received the gift of a free pass this week as she was prevented from taking part this week due to laryngitis but will be back in the next episode.
In more X Factor news, judge Simon Cowell has broken up from long-term girlfriend Terri Seymour, 34. Despite attending the National TV Awards with his ex Sinitta he denies that the couple are back together.
