I don’t think it really matters how long you have been married, nor does it need to be a milestone year for your anniversary to be special. They should in theory all be special or if it has been a particularly testing year, I think you should both pull out all the stops to try and make your anniversary special for having made it through a difficult time. After al, the vows you made were for ‘for better or for worse’!
I think any marriage is really put to the test when children arrive on the scene, yes, they can bring couples closer together but they also absorb a lot of time that the couple would previously have had together as ‘quality’ time. Sometimes Mummy and Daddy just need to be celebrated as the individuals that they are, were and always have been. Sometimes they just need to be shown that they are loved, appreciated and most of all they’ve still got it or in other words they are still desirable to their partners.
