How was your Valentine’s Day? Mine was lovely but I’m sure you’ll agree that we shouldn’t just show our appreciation for each other just one day a year though I’m sad to say that is probably true.
I’m the first person to say that Valentine’s Day has lost its true meaning and has become a bit too commercialised and over the top but I think a little nod to it all is nice. I’d be really disappointed if my other half and I never even got each other a card for each other to acknowledge the day. A lot of people agree not to bother and that’s fine too but the problem arises when one person wants Valentine’s Day to be special and the other person isn’t interested. I think that having a dedicated day is lovely and forces you to stop the things you usually find more important and enjoy talking and being with one another. However you feel about it, even if you don’t bother with Valentine’s Day, you should make a point of showing your partner you love them, whatever time of year it is.
It’s not all about getting a present and card although it’s nice to have a treat every now and again. Some people can afford to go mad and others can only afford or just prefer a more simple gesture which can mean just as much if not more! I love a bit of luxury as a special treat but I equally love a home cooked meal or something to prove that my other half has listened to me. That for me is the most important thing.
